What you’ll do:
Volunteers will help We Plant it Forward staff prepare tree seedlings for an upcoming tree giveaway. Preparation involves bagging, watering, and labeling individual tree seedlings.

What you’ll do:
Volunteers will help We Plant it Forward staff prepare for the tree giveaway, which includes putting up the tent, setting up the table, and laying out the materials.
After setting up, volunteers will run the tree giveaway, giving out free trees, and keeping inventory along the way.
Finally, at the end of the tree giveaway, volunteers will help take down the tent, table, and materials, and pack the car.
This opportunity offers 2 volunteer shifts.

Join We Plant it Forward as we attend the Raleigh City Council Meeting to support budget allocation to plant trees!
Remember to wear green!

A parking garage is located behind the Raleigh Municipal Building. Remember to bring your parking ticket with you to validate it at the machine outside of the City Council Chamber.

How you can help:
Sign the Petition to show your support for planting 24,000 trees in Raleigh by 2032, Raleigh’s 240th Anniversary! We will present this to the City Council at the May 5th meeting. Our friends at Audubon NC are hosting this petition.
Rain Barrel Workshop
Participants will make and take home a 55 gallon rain barrel with installation instructions. This hour-long workshop is fun and easy. No prior skills required. We Plant it Forward staff will guide you through the building of your rain barrel. Participants will use power tools and must wear closed toe shoes and comfortable clothing to work in. With support from an Enbridge grant we have reduced the cost to $25 per barrel. Sign up with Wake County Lake Crabtree Park.

Help We Plant it Forward bring a fun environmental festival to Raleigh!
The Raleigh Earth Day and Arbor Day Celebration is an opportunity to spread awareness and forge a sense of community purpose around the benefits of trees and environmental sustainability. Supporting a healthier natural environment leads to healthier and happier people!
Volunteers are encouraged to join We Plant it Forward staff and board members as we begin to plan for the 2026 Raleigh Earth Day and Arbor Day Celebration!
What you’ll do:
As a volunteer, you’ll attend weekly meetings with We Plant it Forward staff and board members.
Between meetings, volunteers will have the opportunity to sign up for tasks, all critical to planning the festival, including:
Planning environmental demonstrations
Developing a trivia game
Securing sponsorship
Assisting with impact measurements

Tree Planting - Governors Western Residence
We Planted Trees at the Governor’s Western Residence!
We reforested after hurricane helene took down many trees at the governor’s western residence. We planted 50 tree seedlings!

Help We Plant it Forward plant trees and reforest after an invasive species removal at the Walnut Creek Athletic Center. We’ll be planting 300 tree seedlings!
As a volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to raise awareness of the many benefits of trees, promote tree planting, grow our tree canopy, and create both a healthier environment and a happier community!
What you’ll do:
Volunteers will help We Plant it Forward staff plant bare-root tree seedlings using a high-density planting method (a lot of trees in a small space). Tools and gloves will be provided.
Tree Care - Justice Heights Neighborhood
Join We Plant it Forward and help stake trees at Justice Heights neighborhood!
Help We Plant it Forward stake and fence trees to protect them from storms and wildlife!
As a volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to raise awareness of the many benefits of trees, promote tree planting, grow our tree canopy, and create both a healthier environment and a happier community!
What you’ll do:
Volunteers will help We Plant it Forward staff stake and cage 14 trees! Tools and gloves will be provided.
