Raleigh Earth Day and Arbor Day Celebration
2025 Highlights
2,000 people came out to celebrate trees and the natural environment, taking home 310 native tree seedlings!
Thank you to our 75 volunteers who made the festival possible.
Demonstrations
The festival was packed with meaningful moments and memorable experiences. From inspiring speakers and live demonstrations, to interactive walks and creative performances, each featured event brought the community together to celebrate trees and protect the natural environment.
Rain Barrel Making
Susan Jones from Lake Crabtree County Park demonstrated how to make custom DIY rain barrels from scratch, teaching participants how to start their own water conservation efforts at home!
Nature Identification
DragonFly Nature Programs led a mini BioBlitz at Flowers Field, teaching participants how to use the free iNaturalist app to identify plants and wildlife, as well as how to contribute to the 2025 City Nature Challenge project.
Soil Health
Leaf & Limb demonstrated the difference between lifeless dirt and living, vibrant soil; and taught participants practical ways to restore and maintain soil health in their yards and gardens.
Fundamentals of Tree Care:
A Walk with an Arborist
Participants walked Chavis Park alongside an ISA Certified Arborist/Treecologist from Leaf & Limb, who provided an interactive learning experience on the basics of soil health, mulching, structural pruning, pest management, and much more!
Proper Tree Planting
Zach Manor from the Raleigh Parks Urban Forestry Program provided a demonstration on how to properly plant and care for trees!
